Despite getting huge support from party, BJP performed poorly in Pir Panjal, Question mark on two sitting MLC’s
POONCH TODAY NEWS
POONCH: After coming to power, BJP provided two MLC’s to Poonch and Rajouri districts. In addition, post of Vice chairman Pahari board was also given to Rajouri plus a minister from Kalakote and now BJP president from Nowshera. Despite of getting huge favour from BJP high command, both the MLC’s and other leaders failed to perform as per expectations of the party in the recently held parliamentary elections. The worst performance came from Poonch district where BJP failed to achieve the target set by party high command. Majority of total votes got by BJP in Poonch district was due to the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and less number of votes were on the name of party leadership. There are authentic reports that Poonch BJP has become a few men party only and majority of people of Poonch are not happy with the party affairs, but keeping PM Modi in mind, people voted in favour of BJP. Net result is that there was no big role of local BJP leadership in recently held parliamentary elections. Local BJP has been exposed fully in front of BJP high command. From Rajouri city also, BJP performed poorly and this has raised a question mark about the future of local Rajouri leadership. Sources said that party provided huge pecuniary help to local BJP leadership of Poonch and Rajouri districts for elections and what they(Local leadership) did with that has remained a mystery till now. There are reports that MP Jugal Kishore has taken to task local BJP leadership of both the districts for their poor performance in winning the hearts and minds of people. There are also reports that party is looking for new faces from Poonch, Rajouri, Nowshera, Darhal and Kalakote. 2019 elections would be remembered for one more thing as people this time voted on faith lines and this trend is not good for the future. It is pertinent to mention here that the people of Pir Panjal are known for its secular culture, but in 2019 elections, 90% of people voted on faith lines and this is not a good sign for the future, says political pundits. Meanwhile, it’s a high time that BJP leadership needs to introspect about having poor and weak BJP leadership in Pir Panjal and ways and means need to be explored to strengthen the party by brining more and more visionary faces into the party folds as an impression has gone among the people that J&K BJP lacks visionary leadership.
