POONCH: Few days back, Governor J&K Satya Pal Malik promised that Jammu and Srinagar will get 24 hours power supply during coming winter months, but governor administration needs to pay attention to Poonch district of Pir Panjal which is facing regular nine hours power cuts for the last 15 years. PDD Poonch despite getting huge funds in several crores over the years, failed to provide uninterrupted power supply to the people. Right now, the district is without 132 kv transmission line because the said line suffered huge damages during 2014 floods. Advocate Sanjay Raina, a prominent social figure, while talking to “POONCH TODAY”, said, “Its very unfortunate that our leadership and administration are silent on the issue of power curtailment. Government needs to give top priority to this issue.” added “Power curtailment during night hours is threat for peace and its astonishing that Police and civil administration are doing nothing on the issue”. Mahesh Sharma, a prominent local, said, “I appeal Governor Malik to intervene and direct the PDD authorities for regular power supply. Pir Panjal stood with the nation always, but we people always got step motherly treatment as we are being deprived of basic amenities of life.” Ajay Sharma, said, “Power sector here needs immediate attention of the government and I hope that Deputy Commissioner Poonch will direct the PDD officials for addressing the issue on priority”.
