Rajouri’s administration high profile nexus allowing illegal constructions at various places

RAJOURI: An illegal construction which was started few months back in river bed area in Rajouri city has not been challenged by district administration yet, thanks to a high profile nexus in the administration  which has been allowing such constructions at various places over the years. Regarding an ongoing construction near a major bridge of Rajouri, “POONCH TODAY” approached various quarters, but every officer was seen shifting the blame to other offices. The officials of irrigation department, when contacted on record, said that they informed the administration and SHO Police station Rajouri, but no action  has been taken. When SHO was approached through sources, he also said that no law exists to lodge FIR against the said construction due to the involvement of court in the issue. An  important official of Rajouri Municipality said that he approached Police station many times for lodging of FIR, but no action has been taken by higher authorities. Few prominent citizens of Rajouri, pleading anonymity, said that many illegal structures have come in Rajouri district over the years and administration is fully responsible for it. They said that due to the presence of a high profile nexus in Rajouri administration, all types of illegal works related to constructions are going on. They also alleged that Rajouri administration has become a hub of brazen corruption where several departments have failed to show progress on the ground despite of getting huge funds under various schemes. Locals have appealed the UT administration to intervene and take into account those tainted officials of Rajouri administration who are hand in glove with those involved in illegal constructions.
