Violation of RTI act going on in District administration Poonch and Rajouri; No mention of PIO’s and FAAs

POONCH: Right to Information Act 2005 has been implemented fully in J&K UT, but weak attitude of District administrations of Poonch and Rajouri in appointing PIOs and FAA proving as a  set back for information seekers who are keen to play their vital role in the developmental process. Union government is very strict in the implementation of all centre laws in J&K UT and RTI act is one of them. After hectic deliberations on the issue, Central RTI is now fully applicable in J&K UT and in this connection, directions were issued from J&K government to all departments to appoint their PIOs and FAAs, but it seems that District administration Poonch and Rajouri was taking the directions from government easily. Majority of departments of Poonch and Rajouri administrations have not appointed their PIOs and FAA and it shows that both the administrations of twin districts of Pir Panjal are taking this act lightly fearing exposure of various financial frauds. Government needs to take action against those departments who have not appointed their PIOs and FAA, because citizens need to be information on each and every aspect of development and other related issues.
