RAJOURI: Department of Local bodies is among three top “Malaidaar” departments in Rajouri district  as far as corrupt activities are concerned, but strange, no inquiry ordered against these departments by the government, which are involved in brazen corrupt activities. Time and again exposed by “POONCH TODAY” that few Executive officers, who remained posted in Thanamandi and Rajouri municipalities adjusted their close relatives on the posts meant for Safai Karamchari and a few of them even promoted as Junior Assistants. Many financial blunders have been going in  Thanamandi Municipal committee and backdoor appointment blunder is one of them. Sources within the directorate of local bodies, Jammu told “POONCH TODAY” that the matter is already in the notice of top officials, but nobody is ready to take action against this backdoor appointment scam, the reason best known to them. Sources also said that those Executive officers who are involved in this scam are already under the radar of ACB, because their postings at various places in Poonch and Rajouri districts remained full of corrupt activities.  It is pertinent to mention here that in response to government directions to Executive Officers regarding preparing a list of that Safai Karamcharis, who had completed seven years of service, E.O MC Thanamandi, and a few other E.Os heading different municipalities earlier, managed to adjust their close relatives on the post of Safai karamcharis and a few of them were later promoted as Junior Assistants. This open fraud was scripted in MC Thanamndi.  List of people who were adjusted through backdoor exclusively lies with “POONCH TODAY” newspaper. Sources also said that many staff members on a casual basis were recruited in some municipalities of Jammu division through the backdoor and if the government starts an investigation, then many such cases of backdoor appointments will come out.   MC Rajouri, Kalakote and Thanamandi remained in news for various financial frauds, but no action has been taken yet against tainted officials who were involved in multiple illegal acts including this fraud of adjusting their relatives on posts exclusively meant for Safaiwalas. Those Executive Officers of Urban Local Bodies who were involved in this backdoor appointment fraud need to be brought to justice as their dereliction of duties must be viewed seriously by the government in the public interest.
