Neck deep involved in various land frauds, mafia in revenue department selectively targeting people; Silence of top chairs doubtful

POONCH/RAJOURI: Credibility of majority of revenue officials always remained under scanner, because over the years, massive lands frauds were scripted in entire Poonch and Rajouri districts under a big conspiracy. This conspiracy, reportedly had its roots among those forces who were hell bent to disturb the nation and the way many revenue officials from bottom to top played their role over the years, raises a question mark whether such officials were also part of this conspiracy? SRO 320 of 1985 is one of the biggest conspiracies in Poonch city, which was scripted by revenue officials on the direction of their political masters with the same suspicious agenda under a gigantic plan. In Poonch district alone, many kanals of agricultural land have been converted into commercial land, but revenue authorities never moved an inch to take action against the violators. Even thousands of kanals of forest lands were illegally transferred to their well wishers by revenue officials by taking huge money over the years. Revenue department officials seem to have been following double standards in taking action. When a large number of people converted agricultural lands near S.K bridge and Kanuyian chowk into commercial and residential areas, these revenue officials never moved an inch. Illegal constructions are still going on near S.K bridge, but who cares. Similarly, a large chunk of agricultural land has been converted into commercial land in Bhainch, Khanetar and various areas of Poonch, but these self styled honest revenue officials failed to take action, because they don’t like taking action against their well wishes. But on the other hand, when a person started his construction near Bhairon temple Kanuyian under the jurisdiction of Niab Tensildar Khanetar, revenue officials immediately swung into action and stopped the construction by saying that the said person did not take permission before construction. Now the question arises, where revenue officials were when a large number of illegal constructions were started and completed near S.K Bridge and in various areas of Poonch. It shows that a high level mafia is working in the revenue department and various revenue officials are part and parcel of this policy of selectively targeting people. These revenue officials never took action against illegal encroachments of various state lands, forest lands and government buildings which are still under illegal occupation, but showing their ego, they only take action against those people having no back. Involved in many multi crore land scams, revenue department officials of Poonch and Rajouri were not taken to task for several decades, as a result, several thousands of kanals of agricultural lands were converted into commercial and residential colonies. Many revenue officials facilitated encroachment of government and forest lands by scripting illegal mutations in the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri. The tainted revenue officials, who have earned massive amounts of money with their corrupt activities, never took action against land mafia and illegal encroachment of government lands and buildings, but used to show their power on those people who are raising their structure purely in a legal way. A high level inquiry is needed against various revenue officials, who over the years scripted multiple land frauds and facilitated conversion of agricultural lands into commercial and residential ones. Selective outrage by revenue officials will further lower the already finished reputation of the revenue department in the eyes of the common man. A prominent citizen of Poonch, pleading anonymity, told “POONCH TODAY”, “There is no law in Poonch. Anybody can capture any government land, forest land, convert agriculture land into commercial. There is no administration on the ground. Poonch sirf bhagwan barose hai.”
