Another PWD CRF road scam worth crores exposed in division Poonch; Silence of PWD’s top brass questionable

POONCH: A most prestigious CRF road project of PWD division Poonch worth crores which connects two tehsils of Poonch district was to be completed much earlier, but has missed the deadline time and again. Highly placed sources within the department told “POONCH TODAY” that work was not executed as per the project report and just as an eyewash exercise, PWD officials along with contractor scripted a mischievous attempt by preferring to work out of the way eyeing personal interest. The most prestigious road project which will benefit a large section of the society once completed in addition to promoting religious tourism in Haveli and Mandi tehsils, has been facing the step motherly treatment at the hands of PWD officials and contractor, who has been misusing his political power and is involved in encroachment of state land openly. Even officers of district administration are not ready to take him to task for his foul plays. Highly placed sources told “POONCH TODAY” that few PWD officials, who are also involved in other scams, played foul deliberately and managed to withdraw huge sums of money from the said project. Much delay in the completion of the project has added huge inconvenience to the lives of people who used to travel on this road. “POONCH TODAY” is in possession of record of various roads from which huge murder of funds was carried out by few officials of PWD in Poonch district. Horrible state of affairs in PWD shows that no body in the corridors of power is ready to correct the awful things including open murder of government exchequer by fraud means which has been going on in PWD department in majority of divisions. Those officials who were involved in foul play from this road were already involved in various scams including release of excessive payments out of the way eyeing huge commissions. Even top officials of PWD division have indirectly accepted the fact of massive frauds in the department and due to this reason, no body is ready to provide record to any body under the transparency act and it’s a cause of big concern as a few PWD officials have been openly murdering the government exchequer with their ill intentions. Silence of the top brass of PWD is questionable as regular scams in both the twin border districts are coming out. This needs to be detected by ACB as continue murder of government exchequer which has been going on is really a cause of big concern. Although Commissioner/Secretary PWD, who is considered as a meritorious officer in J&K UT administration, has been trying hard to eradicate various malpractices in the department with his strong actions including introducing various reforms and taking action against those Contractors who are habitual wrong doers with PWD works, but it seems that he is fighting this battle alone with none of his subordinates are willing to support him in ensuring major reforms in the department. Although, the Commissioner/Secretary has been showing his meritorious performance as head of PWD and his performances have been recognized by the government of India also, but still a lot needed to be done to fully bring out the department from the clutches of wrong practices.
