POONCH/JAMMU/SRINAGAR: As Kashmir is all set to host the third G-20 meeting of the Tourism Working Group within the next few days, the LG Manoj Singh-led J&K UT government, being backed by the union government strongly, has put in place a robust security network to ensure that the meeting concludes peacefully and successfully.
LG Manoj Sinha has said that the J&K government will make it a grand event. Foolproof security arrangements are put in place, particularly in Kashmir and other areas of J&K in general. Amid the possibility of a terrorist attack, after J&K witnessed some terrorist attacks in the North Kashmir areas and in the Poonch-Rajouri belt, different security and intelligence agencies have formulated a comprehensive strategy to foil the plans of Pak-based terror groups. This would be the first major international-level meeting after the abrogation of temporary articles 370 and 35-A. To ensure round-the-clock security, Army soldiers, BSF, and CRPF personnel, in addition to J&K police personnel in likely well-coordinated efforts, are all set to ensure peace prevails by all means. Against the backdrop of various terrorist attacks in North Kashmir areas and in the sensitive Rajouri-Poonch belt, security agencies are in no mood to give any chance to terrorists. Security is also tightened in the Jammu-Pathankot belt and in the sensitive border region of Rajouri-Poonch. Many Army schools were closed and directed to adopt the online mode of teaching until May 25. Jammu, Kathua, and Samba police are also on alert mode, and police officials were seen checking vehicles and frisking individuals at various sensitive points. In the Poonch-Rajouri belt, police are also on high alert after the Dhangri and Bhimber Gali incidents, in which terrorists killed minority community members and Army soldiers. After surfacing reports of the involvement of locals in the Bhimber Gali attack, intelligence agencies, in proper coordination with different security agencies and J&K police, have launched a big operation to flush out sympathizers of terrorists. A few days ago, a CASO was also launched in Poonch City after locals found the suspected movements of some individuals during the night hours. It is important to mention here that under the presidency of India, the theme of the G-20 will be “One Earth, One Family, One Future”. The Government of J&K has given a new facelift to Kashmir, in which delegates from different countries of the G-20 will explore the beauty of Kashmir in addition to attending the meeting in the Sher-E-Kashmir International Conference Centre, which is situated on the banks of the beautiful Dal Lake in Srinagar city. Pakistan, which is facing its worst-ever internal crisis, has been trying everything to disturb the G-20 meeting in Kashmir and shift the attention of Pakistani people there. People in the Kashmir valley who are directly linked to the tourism industry in particular are upbeat as they expect a wind of change towards a better future. Under the supervision of the Union government and J&K UT government, men and machinery of the Srinagar administration, J&K police, Army, BSF, CRPF, and intelligence agencies have planned everything properly for the peaceful and successful completion of the historic G-20 meet, which is facing threats from terrorist organizations being supported by Pakistan. If in Kashmir division, security forces are on high alert, then Jammu division is also not behind to foil the wrong designs of Pakistan forces, which are not digesting India holding the most important international meeting in Srinagar and have been attempting hard to disturb the G-20 meeting. Organizing the most important meeting in Srinagar, the first one after the abrogation of temporary Articles in J&K is seen as a big breakthrough by the Government of India to fail the hollow propaganda of Pakistan on Kashmir, which has been going on for the last 30 years. None of the governments in the past mustered the guts to think of this to fail the Pakistan propaganda, but the union government led by PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and NSA Ajit Doval took this bold decision to organize one of the meetings of the G-20 in Kashmir. Now that the stage is all set for the meeting, it is interesting to see how the security and intelligence agencies will tackle this most challenging task of ensuring peace, as Pakistan, reportedly as per the inputs of security agencies, is hell-bent on disturbing the most important meeting by any means.
