Who will raise the low credibility of the Poonch administration in the eyes of the common man? Illegal stone crushers everywhere
POONCH TODAY NEWS
POONCH: Due to the sorry state of affairs in the administrative setup of Poonch, the credibility of the administration remained low during the last two years.
The rising level of treachery in district administration remained a most discussed topic, as people were seen openly criticizing the administration for brazen violations of rules in many cases. The double standard of district administration was exposed time and again, first on the issue of not taking action against illegal constructions in flood zones, irregular water supply, retrieval of state/Kahcharai/forest lands, and a host of other similar issues, and then on the issue of open-hand, in-glove support to illegal stone crushers that are operating at different places. The majority of crushers belong to influential people, and as a result, the administration never took action. Tainted officers of civil and police administration took this opportunity for their personal benefit and indulged in regular hand-in-glove activity with the owners of illegal stone crushers, who have violated many terms and conditions for setting up crusher units. People from various sections of society approached the administration on numerous occasions with a demand to discourage such activities that would have an impact on the environment, flora, and fauna, but the administration ignored the public concern and gave preference to its own self-interest. Highly placed sources told “POONCH TODAY” that some officers were working on the formula of “Give money, get work done, legal or illegal.” Many illegal crushers operating from different places in the district, especially near rivers, have played a big role in demolishing water bodies, flora, and fauna, and have become a big threat to the environment. But these crushers belong to influential people, which is why the administration never bothered to take action. Due to the various misdeeds, the credibility of the administration reached a terrifyingly low level. A few revenue officials reportedly collected favours on behalf of the administration in exchange for approving all illegal acts related to big projects. The administration never took action against encroachment at various places and other major frauds. The water crisis also remained a big debatable topic, as crores of rupees were misused by the tainted officials of the Jal Shakti department in the name of improving water supply and infrastructure under different schemes. Due to the number of issues, the credibility of the administration remained low, and now the question arises who will raise the reputation of the administration in the eyes of the common man?
