Illegal and fake media platforms have become a big threat to peace and internal security; Will the government act?

POONCH TODAY NEWS

POONCH: The emergence of illegal media platforms, including self-styled YouTube and Facebook reporters, has become a big threat to the peace and internal security of the nation, but no action has been taken yet by the government, for reasons best known to those sitting at the helm of affairs.

Due to the presence of unprofessional people in the fourth estate, incidents of security concerns, blackmailing, and pressurizing different departments with malafide intentions have become the order of the day for most of the unprofessional people in the fourth estate. There are reports that at various places in the Jammu division, various tainted people in the fourth estate are running illegal media platforms and have managed to build links with anti-graft bodies and top civil and police officers. Some are reportedly working as paid spies for top officers and are used to giving them information at ground level about their subordinates.  They used to threaten departments that they would approach anti-graft agencies and IAS/IPS officers with their complaints and used to get handsome favours from such departments. There are many examples of how some media men in Rajouri and in Kashmir Division were later found out to be terrorists. Even some terrorism encounters were shown live, and this issue was raised at a national level that some media men were playing with the security of the nation by giving indirect information to the enemy nation about the strategy of the police and army during encounters. Some self-styled whistleblowers in the media, with the help of some polcie officials, were also seen threatening departments that they have good links with anti-graft agencies and that they will bring into their notice the loopholes of the departments, and in return, fearing an imaginary action, tainted department officials were seen falling into their tactics behind the curtains. These whistleblowers were seen harassing top officers in some high-profile industry districts of Jammu division, and in a short span of time, they unexpectedly rose in favor. Even some police officers posted at different places are seen supporting them while they grind their own axes. Similarly, many unprofessional people in the fourth estate, who even cannot define journalism, are running illegal and fake media platforms, including some employees who were seen forming good relations with top civil and police officers and later using that influence to harass individuals and departments with malafide intentions of fulfilling their well-known wishes. Such people have become a big threat to the peace and internal security of the nation. The government needs to launch a big drive to flush out such self-styled whistleblowers and unprofessional people in the fourth estate who are running illegal and fake media platforms, harassing departments, and have become a big threat to the peace and internal security of the nation because a spark neglected burns the house. It’s high time for DMs and SSPs of different districts to ponder over the matter of extreme internal security importance, as a slight mistake may lead to a big security lapse, going by the Rajouri and Kashmir incidents, where a few media men were later found out to be terrorists. Will the government act on the mushrooming growth of illegal media platforms, including YouTube and Facebook reporters and self-styled whistleblowers, by taking action against them in the interest of governance, peace, and the internal security of the nation?
