Finish terrorism in the Rajouri-Poonch region through professional means: Govt to security forces

POONCH TODAY NEWS

POONCH: After the recent Dera Ki Gali terrorist attack, the Union government has given strict directions to the security forces to finish the signs of revival of terrorism in the sensitive Poonch-Rajouri belt through professional means.

Reportedly, the government is in no mood to ensure the revival of terrorism in the Poonch-Rajouri belt, and for that, all-out directions were given to launch intelligence-based operations, and the first phase of the operation has reportedly begun to flush out terrorists. It is pertinent to mention here that the BG-DKG belt has thick foliage, and it’s difficult for the security forces to taste early success. Every operation is difficult, as it doesn’t matter if a soldier has expertise in a large number of operations. Nobody knows the plans of terrorists in any operation. Moreover, it’s difficult for the army to predict the authenticity of news from the sources, as in the past many army soldiers have sacrificed their lives in cross-firing due to the foul play of some sources that played the double agent role. Although the Kashmir valley is peaceful,  terrorists seem to have shifted their base to the Jammu region, particularly in the Poonch-Rajouri belt, because the area witnessed a surge in terrorist activities during the last more than two years. As seen from the previous terrorist attacks in J&K, it was observed that terrorists used to shift their area of operation after every attack, and this strategy seems to be in operation in the Poonch-Rajouri belt. After the abrogation of Article 370, terrorism has gone down in the valley, but it has been activated in the Jammu region, particularly in Rajouri and Poonch districts. It is important to mention here that the Army always treats every operation on professional ground, as it’s clear-cut directions from the government for every army soldier to follow moral and professional ethics, to treat old persons, women’s, and children’s with respect while taking part in any operation, but sometimes, due to bewilderment in any operation, untoward incidents used to happen. Earlier, security forces and intelligence agencies played a big role in completely eliminating tourism from the Rajouri-Poonch belt by launching big operations like Operation Sarpvinash of Hill Kaka. People believe that a similar operation is necessary to hit the terrorists in the dense BG-DKG forests because any sluggish approach may give terrorists an advantage in building their resources there. This dense forest belt of BG-DKG has witnessed a number of attacks in recent times, including the four major ones that led to the killing of around 20 soldiers. Intellectuals who have a keen eye on recent developments from an internal security point of view say that in addition to counter-terrorism operations, intelligence-based operations should also be carried out in the entire region to identify OGW networks, their social media influencers, and other support systems of terrorists in the Rajouri-Poonch range because finishing the backbone of terrorism is a must. Reports available with “POONCH TODAY” say that the Army, J&K police, and intelligence agencies are in alert mode after the latest directions of the Union government and have launched a Hill Kaka-type operation, and this is a clear indication that the government’s zero-tolerance policy against terrorism will be implemented in the sensitive Rajouri-Poonch range as well. Moreover, a large number of people, reportedly having indirect links with the support system of terrorists, are already under the surveillance of intelligence agencies in the region, and a major operation against them is also in the pipeline, according to sources. Reports available with “POONCH TODAY” said that, under the strong directions of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, appropriate plans have been formulated by the security forces to finish the signs of revival of terrorism in the Poonch-Rajouri belt as the fight against terrorism has reached the decisive phase. Home Minister Amit Shah, COA Gen. Manoj Pande, NSA Ajit Doval, and all intelligence agencies are keen to finish the revival of terrorism in the Poonch-Rajouri region by all means. It would be interesting to see how the security forces and intelligence agencies deal with this emerging challenge of finishing the signs of the revival of terrorism through Operation Sarvashakti, which is said to be a similar operation to Hill Kaka of 2003, in the sensitive Rajouri-Poonch belt to ensure a peaceful atmosphere again.
