JAMMU: Although the surge in terrorist attacks in the Jammu region is a big challenge for the DGP R.R. Swain, the other day, in a blunt statement, the DGP said that Kashmir-based political parties are responsible for the successful infiltration of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism in J&K.

This is the first time in the history of J&K that a top police officer of the DG rank has revealed the truth bluntly. Swain, who is considered one of the best police cops in the country and known for his skills as a professional spymaster, played a remarkable role for the nation. He was instrumental in the successful implementation of many anti-terrorism operations. During his stint as DG CID, Swain played a remarkable role in guiding the government and law enforcement agencies on various critical issues of importance related to internal security, corruption, and other sensitive matters. His recent blunt statement about the power-hungry politicians of the valley, who played a dubious role by supporting the terror industry to secure their political prospects, has opened the eyes of the nation. The DGP, while shedding light on the issue the other day, said, “Pakistan successfully infiltrated all important aspects of civil society, thanks to so-called mainstream or regional politics in the valley. There is ample evidence to show that many had owned the art of running with the hare and hunting with the hound, which left both the common man and the security bewildered, frightened, and confused. Visiting the homes of killed terrorists and expressing sympathy in public was normal. While the elimination of new recruits in terrorism was allowed and tacitly encouraged, those who facilitated recruitment and arranged finances were never investigated.” Swain further said, “SP rank officers were arrested and put in jails alongside terrorists for crimes they had never committed. The drowning of two girls in 2014 was allowed to be hijacked by narrative terrorism, which held the valley at ransom, held hartals, and rioted for many weeks. A very detailed investigation by the CBI and verified by AIIMS forensics proved it was an accident. Things had come to such a pass that the so-called mainstream political parties had started cultivating leaders of terror networks and sometimes directly to further their electoral prospects”. This blunt statement from a super cop of J&K Police, who is known for his integrity, patriotism, and professional brilliance, has exposed those Kashmir-based political parties that remained experts in blackmailing New Delhi for decades to fulfill their interests, even at the cost of protecting the internal security concerns of the country. In addition to some valley-based political leaders who enjoyed power many times, some tainted JKAS and JKPS officers were also involved in furthering the agenda of these powerful leaders through the spreading of narrative terrorism and many foul plays in J&K, as many unfortunate incidents were scripted in various parts of J&K by some officers to secure the interest of their political masters, but shockingly, not a single inquiry was ordered against them. Rather than taking action against them, they were given plum postings. The DGP R.R. Swain statement is an indication of the fact that a big “anti-Bharat” eco-system was running in J&K at the behest of some Kashmir-based political parties. Will the government of India take steps to uncover all such acts that were scripted during the last three decades by these power-hungry leaders against the national interest? Only time will tell.
