Strengthening democracy: A high polling percentage in Poonch district is a big achievement of DC Poonch Vikas Kundal(IAS); Police and civil administration efforts are appreciated by all

POONCH: After a long time, Poonch district has witnessed high poll percentages in all three constituencies of the district, and the credit for this goes to the district administration, Poonch police, Army, paramilitary forces, and intelligence agencies, said locals.

After the MCC came into force, the DC Poonch Vikas Kundal (IAS), who led from the front, was seen on his toes, as huge efforts were made from the administration to ensure maximum voting percentage by launching SVEEP activities across the district to encourage the people and the first-time voters to vote in large numbers in the interest of a flourishing democracy. The administration organized a number of activities in various schools and colleges of the district, and those activities received a huge response from the people. The good management of the Poonch administration in the election-related activities also caught the attention of several print and electronic media platforms at the UT and national level. The representatives of the election commission who came to Poonch during the election process also witnessed good arrangements from the administration side. Top-class management of the Poonch administration regarding election activities and high polling percentage also got the attention of press releases of the Election Commission of India. Green, women, and PWD-managed polling stations also got the attention of the media at a higher level. The high level polling percentage in the Poonch district on all three constituencies shows that the administration led from the front by DC Poonch Vikas Kundal (IAS) did a lot of homework and proper planning to leave an indelible mark on the minds of the voters to take part in the democratic exercise in large numbers. The election observer who was deputed by the government also did a lot for ensuring a fruitful election process. The district administration organized sports activities, painting activities, nukkad natak, kite flying event, and several other activities to impress upon the people to stand strongly with the Indian democracy. After long years, all three constituencies of Poonch district have witnessed such massive enthusiasm among the voters, right from the early polling hours, all the polling booths started witnessing a huge rush. The Surankote constituency witnessed 74.82%, while Haveli witnessed 74.5%, and on the other hand, Mendhar constituency witnessed 71.08%. The overall polling percentage of 73.69 is a big achievement of the Poonch administration, and it will set a benchmark for future elections in the district. SSP Poonch, Mumtaz Ahmed (IPS); Additional SP Poonch, Musheem Ahmed, SP/Dy.SP (Ops), Dy.SP Hqrs, Pankaj Sudan, SDPOs, SHOs, Sub-Inspectors, and other subordinate staff of Poonch police played a remarkable role in ensuring violence-free elections. After a long time, it was seen that people from every section of society participated in the democratic exercise wholeheartedly, and it’s an encouraging sign for Indian democracy. Locals said that DC Poonch Vikas Kundal (IAS) deserves credit for the successful and peaceful assembly election conducted in the district. In addition to the civil administration, Poonch police, paramilitary forces, and intelligence agencies also did a lot to ensure peaceful polls, they further added.
