Complete mess! Not X.En but a superior officer is running the Jal Shakti department with the help of blue eyed officials
POONCH TODAY NEWS
POONCH: There is a complete mess in the Jal Shakti department, where rules are being broken openly as a few officials have complete control under the shelter of a superior officer, who reportedly has bypassed everybody. By providing illegal connections to people without knowing the feasibility of each line, financial irregularities and scores of other things, this department has become a department of blunders. On the one hand, the common man is unable to obtain a consistent water supply, but on the other hand, some blue eyed PHE officials who have made the department their personal property are making all decisions related to tenders and other civil works with the backing of a superior officer. In some areas, people got connections from pipes with less capacity, but who cares when lower-level officials are outperforming the executive engineer with the help of a senior officer? Sources in the department told “POONCH TODAY” that this department has become a “gold mine” for tainted officials of the Jal Shakti department, and nobody in the administration dares take them to task. What is expected of the department in other areas if it fails to provide regular water supplies to the people? During the last six years only, tainted officials looted the department of several crores, as most of the schemes that are projected on paper to be completed never existed on the ground in many cases. If one considers the situation in the Jal Shakti department, where a common man is unable to obtain a consistent water supply due to false claims made by department officials, then what would be the situation in far-flung areas of the Poonch district? Poonch City is surrounded by three rivers, but still, the department has failed brazenly to ensure regular water supply to the people. The mismanagement in providing water connections to the people is clearly visible in many wards of Poonch town where there is no scope, but the department was seen providing water connections. A superior officer has taken full control of the department and is calling shots everywhere. This total mismanagement, in addition to financial mismanagement under different schemes, is going on in the department due to the poor coordination between the X.En and a superior officer. A high-level inquiry is needed against the department officials for their failure to ensure public convenience as far as water related issues are concerned and for scripting financial mismanagement under different schemes including playing foul in tendering process.
