District administration fails to ensure regular water supply to the people; local demand strict action against erring officials
POONCH TODAY NEWS
POONCH: As the people of Poonch district are witnessing total administrative deficit on various accounts, the J&K government seems to have not learned any lesson from the woes of the public. Locals alleged that if the administration has failed brazenly in providing the basic amenities of lives to the people, then what is expected from administration in other areas of lives.
The Jal Shakti department has gone totally out of control as the majority of employees are seen not attending their duties. Top officials of the department have full information about this issue but nobody is ready to take action against those lower rung officials who are bound to ensure regular water supply to the people. The department has only one excuse and that is “Motor kharab hai, transformer kharab hai.” Despite getting funding in several crores, the ground condition speaks of the horrible state of affairs in the department. Tainted officials looted the government exchequer in several lacs over the years as commission only, but the common man has been suffering for no fault. SE, X.En, AEE, AE JEs and other officials who are holding important chairs have no concern about public woes. The Deputy Commissioner, ADDC and ADC seem to have been passing time as nobody is serious about solving the public issues of common nature. During the holy Navratras and ongoing Ramzan months, water supply has become irregular and nobody in the administration is keen to address this issue. Locals levelled a serious allegation of inefficiency against the district administration, saying that the top chairs have also failed to streamline the Jal shakti department. A senior citizen, pleading anonymity, said, “Several crores of rupees were given to the Jal Shakti department in Poonch during the last few years, but still, the concerned department has failed to ensure regular water supply to the people. Lower rung department employees who are posted at different locations to ensure smooth supply are not attending their duties and do different works, without any action from top officers of the department against them. In the name of maintenance, huge funds were withdrawn over the years, but still the department has failed to ensure regular water supply to the people. Locals have demanded transfer of inefficient officers of Poonch administration and Jal Shakti department who are proving liabilities on the system.
