As expected! CM Omar Abdullah’s praise of PM Modi is not digestible to the INDI alliance; Omar doesn’t want to repeat Mehbooba Mufti’s mistakes
POONCH TODAY NEWS
POONCH: After becoming Chief Minister of J&K UT, Omar Abdullah time and again said that two power centres won’t work in J&K and reiterated his demand of statehood from different platforms. Omar’s statement related to two power centres shows that the cordial relations between the CM’s administration and the LG’s administration were not good.
Many times, the issue of the absence of business rules, which shows both the power centres about their duties, also came into the media limelight, but the elected government clearly stated that the ministers knew their powers and they were executing the same on the ground. But the recent twist in the stance of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has surprised the INDI alliance. On two occasions, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah praised PM Narendra Modi and said that the PM has fulfilled all his promises and hopes that the promise of statehood will be fulfilled soon. During the inauguration of the Jammu Railway Division (virtually from Delhi) and the Z-Morh tunnel by PM Modi, Omar Abdullah, for the first time, praised PM Modi and said that because of the policies of PM Modi, there is total peace in J&K. This statement of the CM about peace in J&K is because PM Modi has given a tough signal to Pakistan and other anti-India forces. Highlighting various developmental initiatives of PM Modi, the Chief Minister of J&K said that the PM has done a lot for J&K and hopes that he will continue to do the same in the future. In return, PM Modi and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, during his Akhnoor visit, also lauded the vision of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. Omar appreciating PM Modi and PM Modi also reciprocating the same is seen as a major twist in the relations between the J&K UT government and the Union government. The National Conference, which is a part of the INDI alliance, seems to have adopted a tactful approach. A few days ago, CM Omar Abdullah also questioned the intentions of the INDI alliance and raised a big question mark on its existence. Earlier, he gave advice to Rahul Gandhi not to beat around the bush on EVM, and this shows that the relations between the two coalition partners are not good. CM Omar Abdullah also faced a tough stance from his Srinagar MP, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, who said that Article 370 is more important than statehood. He also stood strongly against the NC government over the reservation issue. Despite facing a tough situation, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah seems to have decided to work in close coordination with the centre and might be under a hidden agenda of getting statehood back. But political observers believe that Omar’s praising PM Modi was not based on any agenda; in fact, Omar highlighted the truth, which he himself witnessed on the ground from a developmental point of view. They further said that Omar is a straightforward person; that’s why he bluntly praised PM Narendra Modi, and this irked the INDI alliance leaders very badly. When Omar Abdullah praised PM Modi, the PDP also raised questions on CM Omar Abdullah through social media posts that alleged that Omar is a man of double standards. Before becoming Chief Minister, he was seen training guns on PM Modi, and now, Omar has started praising PM Modi. Although the INDI alliance leaders were not digesting the statements of CM Omar Abdullah in favor of PM Modi, at the same time, Omar Abdullah is a visionary leader who cannot manage direct confrontation with the centre and might have decided to work in close coordination with the centre. Omar Knows that Mehbooba Mufti, as Chief Minister of the erstwhile state of J&K, took direct confrontation with the centre, and what happened after that is very well known to all, as the PDP is nowhere in the J&K politics now. So, the Chief Minister of J&K UT is playing positively by not repeating the mistake of former CM Mehbooba Mufti of attacking the centre directly. So, as expected, Omar wants full backing of the Union government, and for that, he is ready to walk an extra mile with full confidence and a positive approach, without giving importance to the views of INDI alliance leaders and his own party members.
