MLA Haveli Ajaz Jan announces Press Club for the media fraternity, says nobody addressed the issue for years

POONCH: MLA Haveli Ajaz Jan, during a meeting with the press fraternity, announced a state-of-the-art press club having all the facilities for media persons. In a specially arranged tea party organized by the MLA to listen to the grievances of members of the press fraternity, Jan said that unfortunately, no efforts were made from any quarter to address the genuine issue of the press club for the press fraternity.

Press members highlighted various issues confronting the press fraternity as they said that without any proper place, media persons find it extremely difficult to cover all news items. Moreover, political leaders, social workers, and the public find it very difficult to reach the media persons to highlight their concerns. After giving a patient hearing to the demands of members of the press fraternity, MLA Haveli Ajaz Jan said that the media had played a big role when there was no elected government in J&K. He said despite facing massive pressure during the last few years, media persons of Poonch did their job in a most challenging environment by highlighting the issues of public importance. In an indirect attack on the system, Jan said that it’s disheartening to know that no efforts were made from any quarter to construct a full-fledged press club for the press fraternity of Poonch. Jan said, “The Poonch press fraternity has played a big role for years in highlighting every issue of public importance, but as far as addressing the issue of the press fraternity, nobody stood strongly before the press fraternity members.” Jan said that he will address every issue of the press fraternity so that each and every member of the press fraternity will get a good atmosphere with all the facilities in the press club to perform in a better way. Jan said, “The press club should have all the facilities for working media persons, including a big parking space, boarding and lodging facilities for visiting media persons who come to Poonch from other places to cover important events. I will take the help of technical experts before formulating a plan for a new press club.” The press club members have welcomed the announcement of MLA Haveli and hope that the concerned project will be started soon to boost the morale of the press fraternity of Poonch district.
