Appointed by MD NHM, the contractual doctor converted the ‘Operation Theater’ of Raja Sukhdev Singh Hospital into a toll plaza center; Poor people crying for help, health minister’s intervention demanded
POONCH TODAY NEWS
POONCH: At a time when the Prime Minister of Bharat, Narendra Modi, has introduced transparency in every sector in addition to providing healthcare services to the people at their doorsteps, unfortunately, the horrible state of affairs in the Raja Sukhdev Singh hospital has another story for the government.
In this hospital, an anaesthesia doctor who is working on a contractual basis and was appointed by M.D. NHM has converted the ‘Operation Theater’ of Raja Sukhdev Singh Hospital into a toll plaza center, as he allegedly used to charge Rs 4,000 per patient. Helpless and innocent patients who come to the hospital during emergency hours have no other options but are forced to give the doctor the said money. Highly placed sources in the hospital said that the said doctor runs the affairs of the ‘operation theatre’ openly, and nobody is willing to stand tall against him because a close relative of the said doctor is currently posted in an important place in the health department of Poonch. Time and again, MLA Haveli Ajaz Jan and DDC Poonch Vikas Kundal (IAS) were seen visiting the Poonch hospital, and they said that everything was fine in the hospital, but this most genuine issue of innocent and helpless people was not brought to their notice by anybody. It clearly shows that a high-profile mafia is working in the hospital that is an expert in managing everything behind the curtains. Poor and innocent people who used to come from far-flung areas of the Poonch district for treatment always hesitated to raise their concerns before anybody, and the said doctor took undue advantage of this fear factor among the people. As a result, the anaesthesia doctor who works on a contractual basis used to earn in lakhs every month from the said contractual posting. This also raised a big question mark on the Chief Medical Officer, Poonch, and the M.D. NHM, who have turned a blind eye to the issue. People have demanded the intervention of Health Minister Sakina Ittoo into the issue. A local of tehsil Mandi, while talking on record to “POONCH TODAY,” said, “Ohh Khudaya, bachao, bachao.” He said that it’s astonishing that during the rule of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, when nobody talks of corruption, this doctor has murdered the sentiments of poor people by charging Rs 4,000 per patient in the operation theatre. People only in stressful situations come to the hospital for treatment, but it’s sad that this anaesthesia doctor, posted in the operation theatre on a contractual basis and appointed by M.D. NHM, is openly playing with the sentiments of the poor people by charging heavy money from each and every patient who comes to the operation theatre for any type of operation, he added. Fearing any untoward incident during operation, patients are forcefully compelled to give him money, he further added. It is pertinent to mention here that a number of financial frauds have taken place in the Raja Sukhdev Singh hospital, and those who enjoyed lucrative postings have become lakhpati and crorepatis in a short span of time, but unfortunately, not a single inquiry was initiated against any of the staff members who were involved in brazen unhealthy financial practices. “POONCH TODAY” is in possession of some solid records that show how openly murder of government exchequers have taken place in the hospital for years. Poor and innocent people were seen crying for help due to the pathetic attitude of the said doctor, but nobody is looking after their genuine concerns. The unprofessional conduct of this anaesthesia doctor, who is posted in the operation theatre on a contractual basis after his retirement, has lowered the dignity of this profession. Locals have demanded his disengagement of his services from the department, as he is accused of continuously indulging in unhealthy practices, which have brought a bad name to the department and the medical profession. Will the health minister, Sakina Ittoo, and MD NHM take notice of the issue and order a high-level inquiry into it? Only time will tell.
