POONCH TODAY NEWS
POONCH/JAMMU: For the very first time in his political career, MLA Haveli Ajaz Jan, who won the assembly elections by taking 42,000-plus votes from the Poonch haveli constituency, was seen all guns blazing in the assembly. Jan raised public issues of extreme importance, but when he was given insufficient time, Jan was seen to adopt a tough posture in assembly and said that he took more than 42,000 votes with a lead of nearly 22,000 votes and deserved sufficient time.
Despite being interrupted by the house and by the august chair of the speaker, Jan said that it was unfair that he was not given sufficient time to address the public issue of extreme importance. Although Jan was also seen on some social media platforms highlighting the performance of Omar Abdullah’s government of 2009-2014 and said that the developmental projects started during the times of the previous NC government were not completed by the successive regimes. He said that in the last ten years, development in J&K took a back seat due to poor policies of the previous governments. Jan expressed hope that the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will address all the public issues as a priority and will give a stable and performance-oriented government to the people of J&K UT. It is important to mention here that during his first term as MLA haveli from 2009 to 2014, Jan also raised public issues as a priority but was not seen adopting an aggressive posture, but when he entered the J&K assembly for the second time after winning the Poonch haveli seat again, young Jan was seen going all guns blazing in the assembly, and his tough gestures surprised everybody. The assembly session that is going on has already witnessed verbal duels between the government and the opposition on various issues. At some time, the government was seen as helpless as Chief Minister Omar Abdullah hinted that the two power centers won’t work in J&K, and a few days back, business rules prepared by Omar Abdullah’s cabinet were sent to the office of LG Manoj Sinha, and it would be interesting to see how LG Manoj Sinha reacts to those, as Omar Abdullah reportedly has given many powers to the elected government in decision-making. MLAs of the government have also raised the issue of being unheard by the bureaucrats, and it would be interesting to see how the LG responds to the business rules. The elected government required free hands in delivering government to the people at their doorsteps, feel political pundits. Will the LG accept these business rules drafted by Omar Abdullah’s government? Only time will tell.
