“POONCH TODAY” Editorial: Illegal social media platforms
The emergence of illegal and fake social media platforms has become a big threat to the peace and internal security of the nation, but no action has been taken yet by the government, for reasons best known to those sitting at the helm of affairs. Due to the presence of unprofessional people in the fourth estate, incidents of security concerns, blackmailing, fake narratives, and pressurizing different departments with malafide intentions have become the order of the day from most of the unprofessional people in the fourth estate. There are reports that at various places in the Jammu division, various tainted people in the fourth estate are running illegal media platforms and have managed to build links with anti-graft bodies and bureaucrats and used to threaten departments that they will approach anti-graft agencies and bureaucrats with their complaint and used to get handsome favors from such departments. There are many examples of how some media men in Rajouri and in the Kashmir division later turned out to be terrorists. Even some terrorism encounters were shown live, and this issue was raised at a national level that some media men were playing with the security of the nation by giving indirect information to the enemy nation about the strategy of police and army during encounters. Some self-styled whistleblowers in the fourth estate were also seen threatening departments that they have good links in anti-graft agencies, and they will bring to their notice the loopholes of the departments, and in return, fearing an imaginary action, tainted department officials were seen falling into their tactics behind the curtains. These whistleblowers were seen harassing the majority of departments in some high-profile industry districts of Jammu division, and in a short span of time, they rose unexpectedly in favorable terms. Similarly, many unprofessional people in the fourth estate, who cannot even define journalism, are running illegal and fake media platforms, including some employees who were seen forming good relations with top bureaucrats, and later use that influence to harass departments with malafide intentions of fulfilling their well-known wishes. Such people have become a big threat to the peace and internal security of the nation. The government needs to launch a big drive to flush out such self-styled whistleblowers and unprofessional people in the fourth estate who are running illegal and fake media platforms and are harassing departments. Such forces have become a big threat to the peace and internal security of the nation.
