POONCH: They say that shouting at the crocodile’s face while crossing the river is not everybody’s cup of tea, as it requires a truckload of guts, but the same has been done by the duo of PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, who have almost finished the Hurriyat Conference from its existence.
Hurriyat, which was once considered a ‘Crocodile’ in the politics of Kashmir due to the weak policies of the previous regimes, has been tackled strongly by the union government. Home Minister Amit Shah, the other day, said that two Hurriyat Conference constituents, namely JKPM and JKDPM, announced that they were severing ties with the Hurriyat Conference. Shah said that it’s a big victory for PM Modi’s developed, peaceful, and unified Bharat. “Unifying policies of the Modi govt. have tossed separatism out of J&K. It’s history now,” he added. Earlier, in January 2023, the office of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Rajbagh, in Srinagar, was sealed by the sleuths of NIA for its anti-Indian activities. Because of the strong policies of Modi’s government, the Hurriyat’s existence has almost ended in the valley, as many factions of the Hurriyat have vanished, and some of them have joined the mainstream. It is important to mention here that no government in the past collected the guts to take on the anti-national force APHC, which claimed it to be the voice of Kashmiri people. Earlier, Hurriyat leaders were treated like VIPs by the former regimes at the centre and erstwhile state of J&K despite scripting anti-India sentiments in the Kashmir valley for over two decades. Whether stone pelting on security forces, supporting all anti-India forces, regular hartal culture, chakka jam culture, and likewise many anti-national acts, Hurriyat leaders blackmailed New Delhi for over two decades, acting on the directions of their mentors in Pakistan. Some of the political leaders of J&K were hand in glove with Hurriyat for their political survival, and their closed-door friendship openly blackmailed the country for decades. But as per the famous saying “Jaisi karni waisi barni,” the union government paid back Hurriyat in the same coin after the abrogation of temporary articles 370 and 35-A. Kashmir, which was known for stone pelting, hartal culture, and anti-India sentiments, now is witnessing peace and development. In the last few years, tourists broke all the previous records, and that led to bringing smiles to the face of the common man of Kashmir. Kashmiri people now have started witnessing a change on the ground that was denied to them by the Hurriyat and its sister agencies for decades just for blackmailing New Delhi for toeing the line of Pakistan. During the last more than two decades, Hurriyat was a strong blackmailing force and had established its branches in various districts also, especially in the Poonch-Rajouri and Chenab Valley regions, with an agenda to script anti-India sentiments, and in some cases, they succeeded in creating an atmosphere of unrest in some areas of the Poonch-Rajouri belt and Chenab Valley after the death of a top militant in 2016 with the support of the then-political government, of which a Kashmir-based party was the main pillar. There were numerous examples of how some Kashmir-based political leaders, with the involvement of the Hurriyat, played double roles with the union of India. On the front side of the curtains, they maintained good relations with New Delhi with the main agenda of getting funds, but behind the curtains, they were hand in glove with the Hurriyat in creating an anti-India sentiment. But the time has changed now after the abrogation of temporary articles 370 and 35 A, as the union government, with the help of security and intelligence agencies, has broken the bones of anti-national forces, including the Hurriyat Conference, which has been paid back in the same coin. The latest action of some Hurriyat bodies announcing severing ties with Hurriyat shows that the people have chosen the path of peace and development due to the strong policies of PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
